Situating Tools

On 17^th May the ICT class begun with the introduction of situating tools and its importance. Tutor briefly talked on the introduction of situating tool and some of the benefits of tool which I found    it very necessary tools to be use in teaching and learning classroom. I found out that this tool as a social constructivist tool which may be effective in learning environment where all learners get together with their social groups and can learn from their peers. This tool bring in the real life situations experiences which might bring good learning room for the students to understand the context very well.

When I look at the benefits of the tool I found that it is interesting to use as a learning resource in the classroom teaching lesson. Learning with ICT tools and using ICT tools in the classroom I found that it motivates our learners to learn more in the class rather teacher always shout from top out their voices. Sometimes it is good to use ICT tools as a learning material which I found is very important elements of learning which is directly proportionately to helping hand of a teacher in the schools.

When I was in teaching practice, I have used computer as a teaching aids, I found students were very excited, were eagerly looking and listening to my lesson and I concluded that using ICT as a teaching aids is one of the teaching strategies which I have to used it every day in my lesson so that every individual has a chance to look at and learn some knowledge.

Whenever I walked down I found so any users of ICT on the way to my journey, it provoke me that the use of technology in this modern era, is very necessary and have to have some knowledge on using the tools of the technology. I personally  think that use of some of the ICT knowledge in our classroom teaching and learning is very useful elements since our students will learn ICT knowledge when teacher use it in the classroom which may help them to research and learn some knowledge and skills from using ICT tools.

Following are some of the lesson I learnt in this session and lead me to use some ideas and knowledge whenever I need the information. Simulation is an application that helps to situate learners’ in an environment to experience the context and happenings. Examples:               

v  Simulations (flight, farming, surgery, environment, driving, History City, SimCity, play station) and Virtual Reality (VR)

Simulations are programs (associated with constructivism) that teach strategies and rules which are made to apply to real life situations:

v  computer presents simulations of real learning situations

v  makes learner to take decisions and  solves simulated real life problems

v  provides opportunities to interact with the real life situations without danger, expense or difficulty

v  manipulates the elements of the model as the computer provides feedback

v  Invoke learners’ conceptual understanding & higher order thinking skills.
